In honour and recognition of the work of Alexis Pauline Gumbs and the forthcoming release of Dub: Finding Ceremony. A writing for wellbeing workshop facilitated by Foluke Taylor, Psychotherapist, Writer and Therapeutic Writing Practitioner.

Dub-WRites is an opportunity to come together and be guided through writing, sharing and listening activities that draw on traditions of therapeutic writing and black feminist thought/practice. You don’t need to have experience of creative writing – or to identify yourself with these traditions – in order to participate. Come if you want to join/create a space where we will explore — playfully and without judgment — poetic and narrative processes as ways to connect with deep knowing, ancestral legacy, and each other.

Alexis Pauline Gumbs’ writing is a rich resource for anyone interested in therapeutic writing and what writing can do. She describes herself as an ‘aspirational cousin to all sentient beings’ aiming to facilitate ‘infinite, unstoppable ancestral love in practice’. To celebrate the upcoming release of Dub: Finding Ceremony, which is the concluding volume in her poetic trilogy, each participant will receive a copy of the book (RRP £20.99) Included in the price of the workshop.

Dub takes inspiration from theorist Sylvia Wynter and offers ‘a catalog of possible methods for remembering, healing and living otherwise’.

The workshop centres Black women/womxn of colour.

It will be limited to 14 participants.
